THE DETENTION FILES A public accountability project of LULAC
HUB FILE

Act at the decision points.

The business runs on three inputs the public can reach: appropriations, contracts, and capital. Each one has a dated decision inside the next twelve months.

PETITION

Hearings, and an audit.

Ask the House and Senate Homeland Security and Judiciary committees to hold public hearings, and the DHS Inspector General to audit every award to GEO Group and CoreCivic since January 20, 2025.

Used to deliver your signature to your representatives and to send corrections to this record. Nothing else.

Signed. Your signature will be delivered with the next batch, and you will receive one confirmation email.

CALL SCRIPTS

Keyed to the calendar.

BEFORE OCT 15, 2026

Aurora, Colorado

Call your senators and the House Homeland Security Committee.

I am calling about the GEO Group's Aurora contract, which expires October 15. Colorado has sued GEO over a tuberculosis order it refused to share for two months, and about 50,000 people are in a forced-labor class action over that facility. I am asking for a non-renewal review and public hearings before any new task order is funded.
BEFORE OCT 27, 2026

Tacoma, Washington

The Tacoma contract has been extended only to October 27. Washington's courts have upheld the state's right to inspect and to require minimum wage there, and GEO is asking the Supreme Court to overturn both. Two hundred twenty-nine sexual abuse reports over ten years, most never reviewed. I am asking that no bridge order be funded until state inspectors have access.
BEFORE DEC 19, 2026

The California cliff

Adelanto, Mesa Verde, and the Otay Mesa management contract all come up for refunding on December 19, $269 million in the same week. A federal court had to order clean water and adequate meals at Adelanto in July. I am asking the DHS Inspector General to audit these awards before the money moves.
LETTER TOOL

Email your asset manager.

If you hold an index fund or a 401(k), you are almost certainly a shareholder. Copy the letter and send it to the stewardship team at your fund company.

Copied. Paste it into an email to your fund company's stewardship or investor relations address.

OVERSIGHT ASKS

What we are asking Congress and the agencies to do.

  1. Public hearings in the House and Senate Homeland Security and Judiciary committees on private detention deaths and conditions.
  2. A DHS OIG audit of every award to the two companies since January 20, 2025, including the timing of awards against political payments.
  3. Enforce recusals, verify divestitures, and subpoena contractor-agency contact logs.
  4. Restore CRCL to staffing; unfreeze and adjudicate the 500+ complaints.
  5. Non-renewal review at October 15, October 27, and December 19.
  6. State inspector access at every facility, as Washington's and California's laws already require.
